TDSA Committees

The TDSA has 7 standing committees with positions reserved for Trent Durham-GTA students. 
Committees are a great way for students to start getting involved with student government and look great on a resumé. 
The standing committees with open positions are listed below, please email the contact listed with at least 2-3 sentences on why you would like to be a part of the committee. 
Finance Committee
Terms of Reference
Number of Spots Available: 3
​How often does it meet?: at least once per semester
Description of Committee: Reviews an overview of the finances of the corporation, as well as planning for long term financial projects, budget development, and provides consultation for any investments

Human Resources Committee
Terms of Reference
Number of Spots Available: at least 1
​How often does it meet?: at least twice a semester

Description of Committee: The Human Resources Committee concerns itself with hiring of employees, performance reviews, job descriptions, employment best practices, and disciplinary actions. The committee will also provide students opportunities to get involved within the HR community.

Academics Committee
Terms of Reference
Number of Spots Available: 7, ideally from different majors and/or years
​How often does it meet?: at least twice a semester

Description of Committee: This committee deals with academic concerns and needs of the students of Trent Durham-GTA campus, with a focus on surveying courses that students would like to see or require on campus and voicing the suggestions at the appropriate Trent University Senate committees.

Student Engagement Committee
Terms of Reference
Number of Spots Available: 7, ideally from different majors and/or years
​How often does it meet?: at least twice a semester

Description of Committee: The Student Engagement Committee approves any new clubs, de-ratifies existing clubs, approves club expenditure over $500 and enforces all other powers and responsibilities given to it as laid out in clubs policy. It is also a space where students can come and bring ideas for on-campus and virtual events.

TDSA C.A.R.E.S.
Terms of Reference
Number of Spots Available: at least 3
​How often does it meet?: at least twice a semester

Description of Committee: TDSA CARES is responsible for overseeing political and community-based campaigns and providing Trent Durham students with the means to become involved in the causes that they are passionate about. We will also provide students with the opportunity to network with other student advocates by running events.

Outreach Committee
Number of Spots Available: at least 2
​How often does it meet?: at least twice a semester

Description of Committee: The Outreach Committee concerns itself directly with engaging the Trent Durham Community. It edits and conducts surveys in the Trent Community, as well as conducting ad hoc outreach initiatives, and seeking out and maintaining community partnerships.

​Organizational Review and Development
Terms of Reference
Number of Spots Available: 3 
Meeting frequency: at least twice a semester
Description of Committee: ORD is responsible for the review of TDSA by-laws, policies, and procedures.
