Chair of the Board of Directors​

Pratyush (pruh-TYUSH) brings to the TDSA Board of Directors a strong blend of financial insight, governance experience, and student leadership. Currently serving as Chair of the Board, he focuses on strengthening transparency, accountability, and long-term strategy while ensuring student voices remain at the center of decision-making. With experience in finance, operations, and organizational leadership, Pratyush works to bridge the gap between students and institutional priorities in a practical, results-driven way. Outside the boardroom, he is always open to connecting with students—whether it’s feedback, ideas, or just a conversation. Feel free to reach out to him for any queries and concern.

Kamshayaa Thayananthakumar

​Hi! I’m Kamshayaa (but feel free to call me Shayaa!) and I’m a first-year Business Administration – Accounting student. I joined the Board of Directors because I genuinely care about the experiences we have on campus (the fun, the stress, and everything in between). I’m here to listen. I’m here to advocate. And I’m here to help make our campus feel like a place where everyone belongs, no matter who they are or what their story is.

When I’m not in class, you’ll probably catch me wandering around the hallways, hanging out in the student lounge, or trying to study in the library. If you ever have an idea, a concern, or even just want to chat, please reach out. You deserve a campus where your voice matters, and I’m committed to making sure it’s heard and acted on.

As a former member of the TDSA, I have gained insight into the challenges students face and the importance of amplifying their voices. The skills I've developed so far help me understand and advocate for students. Through my experiences leading clubs, volunteering, and working on campus, I’ve become an approachable, friendly, and student-centered candidate for this role. If you or another student has questions or concerns about anything on campus, please feel free to reach out.  Hi everyone! I'm Afrina. As a memebr of Board of Directors, I'm passioante about helping students learn more about what the TDSA does, connecting them with campus resources and ensuring their voices are heard. Being involved in leadership and volunteer roles has given me the opportunity to connect with students, understand their experiences and advocate for a more supportive and inclusive campus. Hi I’m Prijanga (Pri-yanhg-ka). I am a fourth-year Communications student excited to join the Board of Directors! I have experience working independently and collaboratively through my work organizing events for Trent. As a student, I care for equity and inclusivity. I want to use my position to showcase my leadership skills to provide support for students and make people feel seen. My goal as one of the Board of Directors is to be an approachable person for any students that have concerns or questions related to student life at Trent. Pavinaja Thayananthakumar​​

Hey! I’m Pavi, a Business & Psychology student specializing in Human Resources, and I’m excited to be serving as a Director on the TDSA Board of Directors! If you’ve been around Trent Durham, there’s a good chance we’ve crossed paths! I’m usually somewhere on campus getting involved, helping out at events, or having a random conversation with someone between classes. Getting involved has been one of my favourite parts of university because of the people I’ve met and the experiences I’ve had along the way. I’m always happy to listen, help out, and hear what students have to say. Whether you have an idea, a concern, or just want to chat, feel free to come say hi!

It isn't too late to get involved!

TDSA’s Board of Directors are elected to represent the student body in all matters pertaining to Trent Durham Student Association. 
Directors are expected to dedicate a maximum of 10 volunteer hours each month to TDSA.  During this time, Directors are responsible for attending monthly meetings, aiding in TDSA events, and must chair or co-chair one Standing Committee.

General Duties of Directors include, but are not limited to:

1. Manage the affairs of TDSA, ensuring that missions & values are being advanced.
2. Oversee services & advocacy of TDSA activities.
3. Oversee & approve an annual operating budget for TDSA.
4. Oversee all assets & liabilities of TDSA.
5. Review & vote on policies, by-laws, & other such regulations for the conduct of TDSA’s affairs.
6. Appoint &/or approve members of any/all committees of TDSA.
7. Abide by the rules & regulations as established in the by-laws & policies of TDSA.

Expectations of Directors include:

• Act with diligence, honesty, good faith and in the best interests of the membership and the Corporation
• Regularly attend meetings of the Board of Directors and the meetings of committees to which they have been appointed
• Review all materials forwarded by the Executive committee to be informed on all decisions prior to meetings of the Board
