Structure

By students, for students.

The Student Body is made up of all students, or "students at large." Technically, the TDSA represents its members, which is defined as a Durham home campus student who pays any part of the TDSA's fees. Trent Durham students nominate and vote in the directors and executives. Students' fees pay the executives' salary. As a collective, they are the highest power of the TDSA, they can petition for the TDSA to change, and even move to impeach its representatives!

Who's missing?
The Chair to the Board of Directors is a paid position that facilitates TDSA board meetings and helps keep the exec and directors organized and on the same page.
Committees are filled with directors, executives, AND students at large. These are consulting groups to the board to get further student input! You don't need a title to be involved in student governance!

The Board of Directors is made up of 9 elected student volunteers to question and contribute to the execs' plans and activities. Being a director offers experience with committees, leadership, and as a resume builder. Most directors are elected in the winter with the executives. All but one position, which takes place in September as an opportunity for new students to run!
Executive positions are full-time jobs, and thus these three are paid for their work. They are the President, Vice-President University Affairs, and Vice-President Campus Life. They are elected in the winter previous and give monthly updates to the Board of Directors on their actions and the goings on and around the university.
Though not all of them, employees are largely student staff. They are often hired near the end of the summer to support the executive team throughout the academic year! See if we're hiring here.
We respectfully acknowledge that we are on the treaty and traditional territory of the Mississauga Anishnaabeg. We offer our gratitude to the First Nations for their care for, and teachings about, our earth and our relations. May we honour those teachings.
