Speech Bubble: Helped fight for student rights!

Advocacy

"TDSA has helped give my voice and passion for change [and] support" - Nathan Barnett, Director of Inclusion, TDSA, Trent University Durham-GTA

Speech Bubble: They help the campus feel like a safe and welcoming place!
The TDSA is a member of the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance which represents the interests of approximately 150,000 professional and undergraduate, full-time and part-time university students at eight student associations across Ontario.

OUSA’s approach to advocacy is based on creating substantive, student driven, and evidence-based policy recommendations. Their professional government relations practices ensure access to decision-makers in order for member voices to influence provincial legislation and policy.

OUSA is non-partisan and their policies are written and ratified by students. The TDSA collaborates with other OUSA affiliated schools to write a minimum of one policy per year where it consults with students on campus about tangible recommendations and evidence-based research. To get involved with the TDSA’s advocacy you can:

  • Contact the Vice President of University Affairs at vpua@mytdsa.ca about working on OUSA policies and getting involved in research opportunities
  • Connect with the President at president@mytdsa.ca about getting involved with the Organizational Review and Development Committee which is dedicated to reviewing TDSA policy
Reach out to our Directors of Inclusion or Health and Wellness at inclusion@mytdsa.ca or healthandwellness@mytdsa.ca about sitting on the TDSA Cares committee which works to bring marginalized student voices to the table for events
